In September, I rejoined the Redwood City staff as the City's Community Climate Protection Specialist. I am passionate about preserving the environment and building community. I chose this picture for my profile because it is a reminder to me of the consequences of climate change. The picture was taken during our winter vacation in Yosemite. Notice there is no snow! It was unseasonably warm and we were welcomed with thunder storms and pouring rain. I worry about the loss of the Sierra snowpack and future droughts.

Just as I can be discouraged by the consequences of climate change, I feel empowered by the many positive actions I see all around me as people work together to protect our climate. I look forward to working together with Redwood City community members as we all take steps to lower our carbon emissions and live more sustainably.
