Redwood City Cool Community Campaign Results
Results of our February survey are in. Thirty (32) members of our 85 member email distribution group completed a survey. Thanks! The graph below represents how many of those surveyed were "Already Doing" each Challenge, how many completed each Challenge since joining the Redwood City Cool Community Campaign (Did It!), and how many are still plotting how to get started (Not Yet).

The survey also provides an opportunity to share ideas for how the Campaign can be improved. Respondents had lots of comments to help the Campaign move forward. This is what folks are saying:
-
Schedule times for all of us to turn everything off and have a flashlight hike!
-
Give specifics about how to do some of these suggestions. How to insulate, where to get the materials, timer for heaters, caulking, pictures of how to do it. Make the suggestions accessible.
-
List best places in Redwood City to buy energy-saving items.
-
Find where online I can switch C9 Christmas light bulbs to energy-saving bulbs (using the same string).
-
Establish collection centers in Redwood City for used energy-efficient bulbs.
-
Rate the energy efficiency of different types of space heaters.
-
Keep reminding us :)
-
Maybe challenge us to cut down on the use of our cars?
-
None I can think of
-
Keep sending email reminders.
-
Recycling in schools; compost-kitchen scraps pick up; grey water options; car-free days; plastic bag-free days
-
Close doors and not let the heat in or out...
-
I gave my free light bulbs to a friend who installed them in her home. I let teens know about the campaign.

This campaign seems to be reaching the committed few and not so much the masses. It would be good to have a banner across the Jefferson bridge, banners on the streetlamps, etc. It also needs to have a way to address the many in RWC who are not on computers and get the challenges out on paper and in Spanish
-
Keep up the good work!
-
I do not own a home so a lot of the action items do not apply.
-
I was disappointed that the plastic tablecloths were thrown out, people weren't encouraged to take the extra food, the plastic wear washed and recycled. Would be better to model what you want in the world.
-
Thanks!

I have a long-standing question: Isn't a waste of resources to throw in the trash perfectly good incandescent bulbs? Or should I just pitch them all in the garbage? What I'm doing so far is to replace the incandescent with CFL's as they burn out.
-
Doing a great job!
-
Hooray for Redwood City! The Cool Campaign is something all cities should be doing.

Thanks!
